The swimming pool at the Hansen Dam Recreation Center in Los Angeles is not only the largest pool in L.A., but it is also the largest pool in the whole United States. This is a public pool and is considered one of the best public pools in the State of California. Information on the largest private pool is difficult to come by.
According to the L.A. County Assessor’s Office, L.A. county contains roughly 250,000 swimming pools, 96% of which are attached to single-family homes. All told, 18 percent of homes countywide have a pool, and most of them are in more affluent suburban areas, such as the West Side, Hollywood Hills, Pasadena, and the large swathes of the San Fernando Valley.
